Spud

Meet Spud, a sweet and lovable old gelding who is searching for a semi-retirement situation where he can be a cherished companion to either a horse or a human. In his 20's, Spud has reached a point where he deserves to enjoy the golden years of his life with love and care.

Spud's age has brought some physical challenges, including arthritis that limits his mobility. Despite this, he can still carry a child for gentle pony rides or short walks, but it's important to consider his comfort and not push him beyond his limits. He also has a heart murmur, but the vet has advised that it doesn't come with a specific prognosis. It's something to be mindful of and manage with care, but it doesn't diminish the love Spud has to offer. During the extreme heat of the summer, Spud experiences heaves, causing him to pant and feel less inclined to be active. During these times, he'll appreciate just enjoying the company of his loved ones.

Spud absolutely adores human attention and, once familiar with his handler, will stand for hours to be groomed. While he may occasionally be grumpy about his feet, it's likely because standing on three legs can be painful for him. With understanding and patience, his discomfort can be eased, and he'll continue to be a devoted equine.

This kind old gelding has a heart full of love and deserves a forever home where he can be adored. He will make a wonderful best friend for someone who understands and appreciates the beauty of a deep and lasting bond with an older and wise horse.
